La vista

The eye is a perfect machine, the result of millions of years of evolution. But also a mechanism that can be deceived, as with optical illusions, or defective, as in color blindness. Increasingly refined visual machines are capable not only of seeing, but also of interpreting images and recognizing human faces and gestures.
